reading response part 2 The Invention of Hugo Carbet

This book wasn’t much different from the movie. I can say that Hugo had a stronger or you can say a bolder personality. The book didn’t change much from the movie, basically the only difference was that you were able to know what some characters were thinking. I think that the fact that the book was made was great. I can almost say it is better than the movie. I can’t say that the book was better was because the movie was way more visually appealing.
A difference from the movie was the character thoughts. One thing that happened in the book and movie a lot was Hugo almost getting caught and Hugo getting caught. In the movie you weren’t able to know what Hugo was thinking nor were you able to know what any of the other characters were thinking. I remember in the movie, at the beginning, Hugo tried to steal a toy and almost got cought, then he ran and hid in a vent, Hugo was sweating and closing his eyes. That same scene came up in the beginning of the book, but this time Hugo was thinking that they would probably capture him and take him to a foster home. The book was being much more detailed and telling the reader what exactly Hugo was thinking.I think that books overall are more detailed and clear than movies.
In conclusion, the book, The Invention of Hugo Carbet was indeed good and predictable only because I watched the movie. I was actually pretty interested in reading the book. Hugo would always think what he would do after getting in trouble. He would think what all the other people would say then he would say to himself no one cares about me. This was one of the reasons why I liked this book. Hugo was a smart boy, That knew how to survive sort of on his own.

reading response part 1 The Invention of Hugo Carbet

The book The Invention of Hugo Cabret seems like a nice book so far only because it looks like it’s going to keep me interested, literally. This book is full of images and this book also got a gold medal. I haven’t read too much of this book yet but I already know the plot and it is good. I’ll definitely finish this book by next Sunday and have a full reading response based on the full book instead of half movie half book.
When I started reading this book I thought it was only going to be images but it wasn't.  It had images and then after a few images it would have a description on what was going on in the images. Like at the beginning of the book, Hugo tried to steal a toy from the store. This is what the images was showing, a little boy scared, then a little boy running, then a little book being grabbed by an old man (owner of the store). I forgot the movie and I was wondering what was going on and then the book gave me a description.
I like the idea of this kind of book. It isn’t like other books because it has a lot of images and then a chapter. Most books don’t have pictures but the books that do only have a few, and I’m not talking about children’s books. This book is a major motion picture book. If I were to flip through the book I’d probably remember a lot of the movie.
In Conclusion, I’m not too far into the book yet and will progress rapidly in the next few days. This is a great way to make a book especially if the book is made because of the movie or vice versa. I will probably make a book like this in the future if I am an author.

Mockingjay reading response part 2

The third and final hunger games Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins wasn’t her best book. The last half got boring and was really slow paced. Most of the book was predictable. I can say that the ending of the third hunger games was terrible because it makes me think that there will not be a forth hunger games. I no longer think that this book was too good because while reading this book I’ve zoned out. I don’t want to spoil this hunger games for anyone who reads this, so I won’t say too much about the book.
In this book, Katniss Everdeen thought about Peeta too much which I thought was stupid because he tried to kill her. Even though it was because of the capitol Peeta tried to kill her, she still should be scared of him. I expected Katniss to kill president Snow and she… I am not going to say it because I don’t want to spoil it. I think district two should hate the capitol, not as much as the other districts, but enough so that they don’t have to think twice before fighting against the capitol. I already mentioned this in my other response but district two receives more supplies; like food, water, weapons and more. District two started to fight near the end of the book but they should’ve fought earlier when it was more necessary.
I really disliked the ending and will definitely not spoil it because you probably won’t read the book then and the first half was okay. I expected Mockingjay to end with people from the capitol and president Snow in the hunger games. That would’ve been an epic ending for me. I also expected the capitol to have a smarter fighting technique. When a wave of tar came and almost killed Katniss and her crew all the capitals traps were activated and didn’t hurt Katniss and her crew.
In conclusion, most of the book was good and packed with action. It was probably hard foo Suzanne Collins to think of something to keep the reader immersed into the book. The book was still interesting, I can’t say it wasn’t. Mockingjay was just too predictable.I hope Suzanne Collin thinks of a way to make a fourth hunger games, but if it is hard to do and hard to make interesting then its fine if she doesn’t.

Am I Blue? Reading Response

In the short story Am I Blue by Bruce Coville gays were discriminated and people were prejudice towards them. People like Butch Carrigan were prejudice. Butch beat up Vincent because he was gay. Gay people are made fun of and not accepted all the time and although gay people were not okay with being discriminated and made fun of they find   ways to avoid stuff like that.
Melvin told Vincent a way that gay people avoid being made fun by name calling. People call gay people faggots and queer and so gay people tried to find a way to make that less offensive. Gay people call each other queers and faggots to take the word from people who try to hurt them. Melvin said “My friends and I call each other faggot and queer,” and then “to take the words from people who try to hurt us.” This was one way gay people avoided name calling.
Vincent learned that Melvin lost his life because he was gay and that he was killed. So another way to avoid people noticing that you’re gay is by protective coloration. Melvin was able to do it because he is a fairy but a way to hide that you’re gay is by wearing more masculine clothing. This is another way gay people avoid discrimination.
In conclusion, Vincent learned that it is okay to be gay but not fully okay to show it because of some people. He learned that he can be discriminated if people know that he is gay. Vincent found a way to be hurt by people calling you names. He also found out how not to let people know that he is gay. I personally don’t know anyone that is gay but I probably won’t be prejudice or discriminate them.
