Amulet book four Review
I read amulet, book four over the break even
though I didn’t want to read at all, but I decided why not. Any ways this book
was as good as I expected, I say that in all of my responses just because I never
really read too good books last year so my standards are already low so good
books just exceed my standards tremendously. Even though this is the fourth
book, I understood almost every part of it but it was like one part that I didn’t
fully understand. Oh yeah, if I say this part it will be a spoiler so SPOILER
ALERT, Emily and her friends are nice to the elf kings son even though they
hated the elf king and fought the elf kings son in book two. Emily will have to
fight the elf king sooner or later. So I guess all this happened in book three even
though in book one and two disliked each other. I don’t think I will ever read
book three know just because I read book four all ready and I caught up on
everything and I am not confused. I am not sure if there is a book five or six
or even more but if there is I do plan on reading them but this time in order.
I never even mentioned what happened in this book so I’ll just slightly mention
it because I don’t want this blog to be only spoilers. Emily and her friends go
to a town that is kind of suspicious, everyone is scared and they think they
are being haunted by ghost but they truth is discovered by Emily and that is… I
am not going to say it. Read the book Amulet “The Last Council” book four by
Kazu Kibuishi. I guarantee that you will like it if you like action packed
books like me.

Drums Girls and Dangerous Pie Summary
Spoiler Alert
I realized that I never really finished the book and the last time I read some of the book was like one month ago. So I’ll just summarize the whole book from beginning to end and I will just say the important parts. If you haven’t read the book you shouldn’t read this because it will be full of spoilers. Steven didn’t want any attention and didn’t want anyone to know about what happened to Jeffery. Then people found out and Steven becomes popular. Steven meets a girl with leukemia whose name is Sam. Steven teaches Sam how to play the drums and he let her keep the drum sticks. Two weeks after the band concert they all go back to Philadelphia and find out that Sam has passed away. At the concert Steven's entire band made a concert to help Steven's family because they have to pay a lot of hospital bills. The band also shaved their heads bald in honor of Jeffery. Steven realizes Jeffery is burning up and is rushed to the emergency room. At the end of the book, the characters are all at their Middle School graduation, and Jeffrey is cancer-free.

Amulet
This book was another engaging addition to the
series Amulet. I can’t say it was my favorite book in the series but it’s also
not the worst. I’d say the first on was the worst and I am only saying this
because there wasn’t enough action and instead there was a lot of introducing.
In the first book a girl named Emily finds an amulet and wears it. Then she
can’t take it off so she decides that she has to keep it. Emily’s mother then
gets into deep trouble and Emily has to go with her brother to save her mother.
In the second book they ended up getting their mom but it turns out that she
was poisoned so now she and her brother have to go on a mission to get medicine
for the mother. The third book was pretty interesting, it was good versus evil
and Emily who is on the good side learns more about the magic stone and it
makes her more powerful and it lets her know more about the enemy that they are
fighting. So I think that I will read the forth book but only if I can find it
at my school.

Martin Espada
Argumentative
Essay
In the three poems I read by Martin Espada they all
had a similar theme which was a form of racism. Martin Espada was a smart poet
and made the reader think while they read the poem. The author didn’t tell the
reader who was from anywhere and instead he made us infer like if the person
was white, tan or if he was dark skinned. In one poem there is a person who
keeps getting his name mispronounced and so he says he wants to take people
hostage. In another poem Spanish speaking was banned in the bathrooms. The
meaning of these poems is that if you are mistreated accidentally or purposely
you should not take actions that will hurt people or ones that you will regret.
\
In the poem about the new bathroom
policy by Martin Espada Spanish is banned and even though I am not in this
situation I know it is wrong. In this poem kids are speaking Spanish in the
bathroom and since the principle didn’t understand what they were saying he
banned Spanish speaking in the bathroom. People are discriminated a lot just
like the kids in this poem but I still don’t think bad actions should be taken.
In the other poem the person wants
to take action for when he thinks he is being made fun of. In this poem people
mispronounce his name either purposely or accidentally but he doesn’t really
care because it happened a lot of times. The person in this situation says that
he wants to take people republican tourists hostage and that he wants a
bilingual SWAT team to tell him to be reasonable. He says this because his name
was probably not originated from here and that’s why they can’t pronounce it. I
understand what the person with the difficult name to pronounce is going
through. So he basically wants to do this because he felt that people weren’t
trying hard enough.
In conclusion, Martin Espada wanted
the reader to know that people are being discriminated and that they do want to
take action because of these small problems. But I think that even if a person
is being discriminated but not too harshly they should not take actions that
can put many innocent people and people that were being discriminative at risk.
So I think people should do something if they are being discriminated or hurt
but nothing that will put people in danger.

Drums Girls and Dangerous Pie
I haven’t read too much this week
and I decided to read other people’s blog post and I realized that most people
barely had book summaries and instead it was mainly about how the book related
to themselves and how they can relate in any way to the book. So this blog will
mostly be about how I can relate to Drums Girls and Dangerous Pie. A friend of
mine had a younger brother and I barley ever see him. But his parents are close
friends of my parents so I guess that makes us friends. So, I kind of don’t
fell right when I speak about this but oh well. His younger brother had a
disease and so his time was going to be up soon and no one could change that. Everyone
was nice to him and they were always visiting him. At the time I was young so I
don’t remember all of it. I didn’t read the book yet and so i couldn't relate to it at the time. Well i still can't relate to the book but that friend of mine probably could of related to the book at that time.

Drums Girls & Dangerous Pie
I am reading Drums Girls & Dangerous Pie and
even though I did read it a while ago I decided to read it again but this time
to catch some stuff that I wasn’t able to catch before. I ‘m not done with the
book yet but I kind of forgot what happens in the book. I am up to the part
where Steven and his mom go to the emergency room and when Steven’s brother
Jeffery has a fever. This is the part where they inform the mom about Jeffery
having leukemia. I have got to say, this part of the book was sad but I have
never cried about a seen in a book and never will. Nor have I ever cried during
a movie, they are just not touchy enough. I guess I did feel sad for a movie
but whatever, the part where Steven finds out is the part that is touchy. It’s
because I have a brother, but he’s older, and life would suck without my bro.
So I can kind of relate to this book, but my brother would probably be able to
relate more. By more, I don’t mean I have leukemia but I mean that he’s my
older brother just like Steven is Jeffery’s older brother.

Lament
The
book lament was not one of my favorite books; in fact it was one of the worst
books I read this year. I can say that because I’ve been reading very good
books this year like the very intriguing series, the hunger games and other
books like the Invention of Hugo Carbet and other really awesome graphic novels.
I know that this book is really boring and that you should only read this his
book if you can’t go to sleep at night. This book was just not for me, it was
slow paced and there wasn’t enough action, instead there was a lot of dialogue.
The characters would say stuff, not do. I know the author tried to put some humor
into the book but that’s where I think she messed up. Well, I’ll stop criticizing
this book because there were still some good parts like when Dillon was in danger;
I only think that, that part was good was because there was some action. I can’t
lie; there was a good amount of action but still not enough. If they tried to
put in more action like the Percy Jackson series or like the Hunger Games
series, the book could have been close to the top of my good books list, if I had
one.

Romeo and Juliet
I decided to read Romeo
and Juliet manga edition and i got to tell you, I don't want to spoil it
because the pictures were actually pretty well drawn; I give whoever was the
artist a lot of credit. He or she, whoever drew the pictures knew when to make
it look serious and when to make it look cartoony, like if the characters were
joking. Like a very humorous character was Mercutio,
he was always joking around, he was laughing at his friend Romeo because Romeo
was almost always in a terrible situation. That's definitely not a
true friend. Well any ways, I’ll
just summarize the book for you, if you don’t know what happens in this book
than read this. Romeo and Juliet fell in love, the want to marry each other, they
make out, and get caught hide run and stuff like that. So my main point is that
you should read this book, well I liked the illustrations much better than the
words because it gets confusing when you try really hard to understand what William
Shakespeare is saying.

Review on Prophet of Yonwwod and Hamlet
I finished the book Hamlet by Shakespeare and
I gave the book the Prophet of Yonwood by Jeanne Duprau another chance but still I got bored of it.
The only reason I gave the book another chance was because I read some reviews
about the book and people said that this book is a good science fiction book. I
always liked science fiction books like After the Apocalypse by Maureen F. McHugh so that is why I tried to read it. I also liek apocalyptic books and this book was like an apocalyptic book but i felt that the book wasx very poorly written. I don't want to talk about Hamlet because it was hust like Maximum ride and all the other picture books. It was good and i do recommend it. But the Prophet of the Yonwood on the other hand, I don't recommend it too any one who likes action packed books. If you like slow paced books then this book would be fine for you.

Reading Response Hamlet
I stopped reading the
book The Prophet of Yonwood just because the book was way too slow and I started
getting bored. I probably didn’t even get half way through the book where the
climax usually is. The climax probably wouldn’t have been too action packed
anyways so I probably made a good choice in not finishing reading the book. So
this blog won’t just be about me not reading a book so I’ll talk about the book
I just started. I got the book Hamlet the Manga Edition by William Shakespeare and
it is so far interesting because of the way they speak. It’s sometimes
confusing the way they speak and it’s hard for me to understand. Like the say tis
instead of this and thou instead of you. I didn’t understand some other ones
but I tried to make sense out of it. I liked the illustrations and it didn’t
look like the people who drew it spent too much time on drawing it. There weren’t
too many details in the drawings and some the drawings look very cartoony. My
favorite part was the sword fight scene and that fight scene was like the only
one but that one was still a little too bloody, even for me.
