Reading Response The prophet of Yonwood

I am not too far into the book so far and will only talk about how I think the book is because this book did not reach my expectations. I am not sure if I’ll be able to write good books in the future so I am rating the book based on the books I’ve been reading recently. The graphic novels like Maximum Ride and the Stonekeeper was very good and I won’t include those books because they were graphic novels. But the Hunger Games series was great and I think that’s the only books that I blogged about since the beginning of the year, not including the other graphic novels that I read. I chose this book because I read the blurb and the first word was “War”. I expected fighting through the book. I haven’t read too much so I can’t say that there wasn’t fighting, but this book was just talking about an eleven year old named Nickie and how she is suffering because of the war taking place where she lives. She is in the small town of Yonwood in North Carolina and then a fire spread near her home. Even though this war affected her very badly she decided to find a way to help the world out so people don’t suffer the way she did.

Reading Response on "The Stonekeeper’s Curse"

Now I finished the second book of the Amulet series called “The Stonekeeper’s Curse” and as I expected it was better than the first book. I forget what the first book was really about and so it was a little difficult understanding the second book completely. This happened to me with another book which I think was called “Maximum Ride”. It was confusing because I was reading book five before reading any of the other books in the series that came before it. I understood most of the Stonekeeper’s book because some new characters were still being introduced because they weren’t fully into the climax yet. Usually in most books, once the main character is in the climax not many new characters are introduced.
I liked this book because it was very intriguing, both the pictures and the words were bringing me into the book. It felt like I was there, with the characters while they were fighting and looking for cures. I think that the author Kazu Kibuishi did a great job in giving and drawing every single detail. I am not exactly sure if Kazu Kibuishi drew the pictures but who did do it did a great job. In this book a girl finds an amulet and then she can’t take it off of her. She has to make a choice, to either fulfill all of the duties of the amulet and have her mother cured or decide not to be the stonekeeper and have her mother die.
I hope that if I were to be a writer one day I would write graphic novels just the way these writers do. I want to draw or however they made those pictures just as good or even better. Some of those pictures could have been done on a computer. In the end this book was great and I hope to read more books like these graphic novels I’ve read.

Reading Response Maximum Ride book 5

I’ve recently been reading some enjoyable books. Even though the books were easy to read I still decided to read them. I like picture books because then the story is even clearer. Along with the detailed words would be an even more detailed image of the described person, place or thing. I read the book Maximum Ride 5 by James Patterson which wasn’t my favorite comic book but it was close to the top of the list. It wasn’t better than “Amulet” but it was still great.
This book was about people with super powers and basically they had wings and they were able to fly. They weren’t exactly humans because they were made by mad scientist and they were given feelings of actual humans. They were smart and they knew how to joke around and outsmart other humans. Even though I started this series with book number 5, I still understand what’s going on. I don’t understand some parts when there is a character that comes in the middle of the book that was there like only in book 1. The unimportant characters are the ones that are more difficult to understand.
In conclusion, I liked the book a lot and I was a great book. It was confusing at some points because I started at book 5. I think that I will read the rest of the series and maybe the books that were already made. I’m going to read the other books to understand the book a little more.
